Riviera Affair

The French have always been able to do cool with French Modsease and at the Riviera Affair there are ice filled buckets full! Organised by the Green Hornet Association, located on France's Cote d'Azur, the Riviera Affair is an International Mod 60's Soul/Beat/Psyche/Hammond Groove Allnighter - plus live gigs, a scooter rideout and, for those still on their feet at the end of le weekend, a pool party!

The location of the event shifts yearly along the scenic Riviera coastline with this years setting being Nice. The backdrop for the daytime events was the city's famous Promenade des Anglais (walkway of the English) where the Victorian visitors of yesteryear would have been somewhat surprised to see Austrian mods playout crazy drinking rituals while dj's spun smooth soulful sounds and Italian, Spanish, British, German and French mods all got together and partied.

The evening Allnighter's (which for many continued uninterupted from the daytime affair) took place in the surreal surrounds of a dissused abattoir. Local band 'Les Tikis' proceeded to slaughter the Green Hornet Associationcrowd with their energetic covers of Northern Soul classics and on the Saturday night the 'Worlds hottest Hammond beat group', Big Boss Man, continued the thrash in cracking style!

The Green Hornets, Celtic Scooter Club and Lyon Mods were amongst those taking part in the Saturday rideout, which was a fantastic experience, drifting along the winding hills and meandering through small seaside towns where locals and tourists alike were completely taken back by the noisy mod invasion. VIVE LES MODS!
